Nathan works as a senior carer at a residential home that provides care for people with dementia. His role includes:
Nathan enjoys the relationship he has with the people he supports. He feels the key skills required for the role are patience, understanding, organisation and good time management.
Nathan is proud that he can make a difference to people's lives.
Nathan started at Breadstone House Care Centre 7 years ago as a care assistant this involved providing care and support, including personal care, social activities, and domestic tasks. Whilst working as a care assistant he completed his Level 2 Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care - Adult with t2 group. Shortly after this he was encouraged to apply for a senior care role and was successful.
To support his progression in his new role, he completed his Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship. He now has increased responsibility and has learned new skills that he can put into practice.
Nathan takes advantage of all the training his organisation offers and sees every day as part of the learning process.
He hopes to complete his Level 5 Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship and progress to a Care Home Manager in the future.
Nathan would highly recommend a role working in care as it is very rewarding. He advises anyone looking to start working in health and social care to have patience and be understanding of patient's needs.
I love helping people and seeing them smile. I get great job satisfaction from seeing the positive changes I can make to people's lives.
